The sample used 65g.
Needles
US 2.5/3 mm - one 16"/40 cm circular needle, and DPNs.

Gauge
42 sts and 44 rnds = 4"/10 cm square in 1x1 Rib unstretched using US 2.5/3 mm needles worked in the round.

DIRECTIONS
Using Alternating Long Tail cast-on, CO 176 sts and join in the round, being careful not to twist.
Rnd 1: [K1, P1] around.
Work even until the piece measures 9.5"/24 cm cm from the CO edge, or 3"/7.5 cm less than desired length.
Crown Shaping
Rnd 1: [Work even 21 sts, PM, CDD, work even 20 sts] four times - 8 sts dec'd; 168 sts rem.
Rnd 2: Work even.
Rnd 3: Work even to 1 st bef M, [CDD, work even to 1 st bef M] four times - 8 sts dec'd; 160 sts rem.
Rep Rnds 2-3 nine more times - 72 sts dec'd; 88 sts rem.
Rep Rnd 3 ten more times - 80 sts dec'd; 8 sts rem.
Finishing
Break the yarn leaving a 12"/30.5 cm tail. With a tapestry needle, thread the tail through the remaining stitches. Pull end closing the hole and secure the tail outside the hat.
Weave in ends on the outside of the hat. Turn the hat inside out.
